January is the start of a new beginnings. A New Year begins. The holidays are over and you can finally take a breath and life settles down a bit. You can spend cozy days inside and reflect on your past year. You can begin to think about how you want to feel in the upcoming year, and what changes you want to implement in your life.
You open your new planner, and an abundance of opportunities await on the blank pages. Setting a goal gives your life direction. You create a roadmap for yourself. You schedule your deadlines of your goal into your planner and begin by taking action steps to complete the goal!

But what if you don’t know how or what goals to set for yourself?
You don’t always have to know exactly what goals you are setting for the New Year. Maybe you have no idea where to even begin. I want to pause here and tell you, that is OK!!!
You don’t always have to have your entire life and year planned out.
If you don’t know where to begin to set a goal for the New Year, then set an intention for 2025.
What does that even mean? It means you give your life a focus point. You give yourself a direction to head towards. Your intentions for the New Year could be to be healthier. Be present with your family. To get control of your personal or business finances. To implement boundaries for yourself. To learn something you’ve always been curious about. To get involved with a local non-profit organization. To read more books and expand your mind.
Setting an intention for yourself is a much smaller form of setting goals for the New Year. Typically, when you pick something to focus on, your curiosities grow, and then your knowledge grows. Now you have some tangible evidence for yourself if your intention aligns with the person you are aiming to become. An intention naturally evolves into a goal if it aligns with your core values.
Your biggest success factor in setting goals for the New Year is getting accountability. You can do this on your own by making a plan for yourself and scheduling check-ins to ensure you’re on track with your goals. You can ask a like-minded friend to keep each other accountable.
You can also invest in your personal growth and join an accountability group coaching program or hire an Accountability Coach.
Whatever you choose, your goals are important. Don’t put yourself at the bottom of your to-do list. Don’t let another year go by that you don’t take the course you’ve been wanting to. Don’t wait another year to write the book you’ve dreamt about since you were in middle school. Don’t wait to implement healthy habits and a routine that supports the best version of yourself.
Don’t wait for someday to live the best version of your life.
Supporting your dreams and goals always,
Alicia.
