The best gift you can give someone?

Showing up. 💯

This is a conversation that’s been on my heart for a while, and one we’re teaching our daughter often.

People will always remember who showed up in their darkest hour, their time of need, their celebration, or even if they didn’t know they needed it.

So if it feels right, show up. Be the person who quietly comforts someone or celebrates their win.

It matters.
It’s important.

It makes them feel seen (the point), and deep down you know you did a good thing (yay for you!)

Be the change. 💖

Healthy baby. ✅ Both parents working. ✅ Home. ✅ Food on the table. ✅ 🙏

Behind the this smile?

➡️Debilitating grief. (Still miss my girl.)
➡️Overwhelm.
➡️Adjustment in identity.
➡️Feeling isolated as a parent as my husband took a position on paper that was better for our family, but wasn’t for either of us. (Quality time was a core value for both of us when I had no idea what core values even were.)
➡️Shift in relationships that I didn’t understand.
➡️ Trying to balance IT all.
➡️ Feeling like a failure.
➡️ Having NO idea about my changing hormone levels.

Feeling stuck might look like smiles in photographs. You don’t have to have it all figured out to evolve. I certainly didn’t.

You just have to choose. To do your best, with where you’re at. Then, do better when you know better. ✨(A variation of Maya Angelou’s quote. I had it taped on my wall during this time period.)

I did my absolute best during this time. But I knew there had to be more to life than surviving.

I wanted MORE. More fulfillment and more certainty in my self.

I asked for….a Bonsai Tree. 🌳

Do I know anything about them? Nope.

Why did I want one?

Because I read a deeply reflective book, and the author talked about how a Bonsai tree will only grow as big as the pot it is planted in.

And that hit me like a ton of bricks.

I’ve definitely outgrown many pots I’ve been rooted in. But I knew it was time for a bigger pot when I read that.

So thank you @msrachelhollis for planting another seed (pun intended) in my growth, and creating a visual I knew I wanted to look at every single day.

Here’s to withstanding hardiness, aiming for peace, patience, and inner strength.

➡️ I don’t want to pick what I want to do.
➡️ I don’t want to pick my gift. (Even though I did 😆😆)
➡️ I don’t want to decide what’s for dinner.
➡️ I don’t want to plan, arrange, or decide.

I just want to be.

Be present with my family.
Be present where I am.
And eat chocolate. (My favorite is brownies.😉)

I feel like there are two types of inspiration. ✨

1️⃣ someone who inspires you to go far down the path you dream of.

2️⃣the people that you see doing the day-to-day grind. They’re taking small action steps towards their goals that they probably don’t even think really add up to anything (but they do!)

That’s true inspiration. 💯

When you can look left and right and find encouragement rather than looking so far down the road and it being foggy and scary because the growth required is so far away.

👉When life gets hard, go to your list and be reminded of all the joy and goodness you’ve experienced.
