You know what you want.
You want to host the retreat.
Write the book.
Launch the course.
Start speaking on stages.
Take Fridays off.
Create more financial freedom or finally have a business that gives you more time to actually enjoy your life.
Whatever your next level of business growth looks like, you can see it.
And maybe you’ve been thinking about it for six months.
Maybe two years.
Maybe even longer.
So if you know what you want, and you probably have a pretty good idea of what you need to do next…
That’s the question I’m much more interested in.

When we aren’t moving forward, we tend to assume we need to do more.
So we overthink.
We buy another planner. Rewrite the business plan. Join another networking group. Sign up for another course. Attend another event.
Or we keep creating without ever releasing anything.
The book is sitting in Google Drive.
The course is finished in Canva.
The retreat has been in your Notes app for two years.
You’re doing things that make you feel productive without doing the thing that would actually move your business forward.
And that’s why I don’t think this is always an action problem.
There may be something underneath the inaction that you haven’t named yet.
You already built a business.
You’re good at what you do. People trust you. You know your industry. You’ve established yourself as someone who knows what she’s doing.
And now you want something new.
Which means you might have to become a beginner again.
You have to tell people what you’re doing before you have evidence that it’s going to work.
You might have to enter a new market.
You might have to try something publicly and not immediately be good at it.
That’s uncomfortable when you’re used to being the expert.
So maybe you aren’t procrastinating because you don’t want the next thing badly enough.
Maybe part of you doesn’t want to be seen learning how to do it.
There’s another piece of this I don’t think we talk about enough.
You remember what it took to build your business the first time.
The late nights.
Working during nap time.
Answering emails from the car.
Missing sleep.
Being physically with your family while mentally still at work.
You did what you needed to do to build what you have.
But now?
You don’t want to do it that way again.
You want to grow your business AND watch your kid’s game.
You want more revenue AND Friday afternoons off.
You want to host the retreat AND be present with your family.
You want the next level of your business, but you don’t want to sacrifice your entire life to get there.
Those aren’t conflicting desires.
Maybe your hesitation isn’t telling you that you don’t want the dream.
Maybe it’s telling you that you’re unwilling to build it the same way you built the last one.
And that’s worth paying attention to.
Recently, I wrote down six priorities for my business.
Six.
Because apparently three wasn’t enough. 😂
They all sounded important, but when I looked at my actual week and asked myself, What really matters here? I circled two:
My podcast and conversations with women.
Everything else could wait.
Because being productive and moving forward are not always the same thing.
Now, when I have another idea, I put it in what I call my “parking lot.”
It’s not a no.
It’s just not what I’m doing right now.
And you might need to give yourself permission to do the same.
Instead of asking:
“Why can’t I make myself do this?”
Try asking:
“What haven’t I understood yet about why I’m not doing it?”
Because maybe you don’t need another plan.
Maybe you need to understand what’s actually underneath the inaction.
If you know exactly how you want to grow your business but you’re frustrated because you’re still not doing it, this is the conversation I want to have with you.
